AC -FF VII- mempunyai "Calling" sebagai Theme Song dan Kyosuke Himuro sebagai vokalis. "Calling" merupakan bagian dari album Himuro yaitu Neo Fascio yang dirilis tahun 1989. Sedangkan untuk ACC -FF VII-, Himuro menyumbangkan sebuah lagu tema vokal baru yang ditulis dan dinyanyikan bersama-sama dengan Gerard Way, kemudian lagu tema vokal baru ini diberi judul "Safe and Sound". Sayangnya, "Safe and Sound" hanya diperuntukkan untuk ACC -FF VII- versi Jepang sementara ACC -FF VII- versi Inggris tetap menggunakan "Calling" untuk dimainkan saat Staff Credits. "Calling" dinyanyikan seutuhnya menggunakan lirik bahasa Jepang sedangkan "Safe and Sound" seutuhnya dinyanyikan ke dalam lirik bahasa Inggris.

Game ini adalah sekuel dari FF VII yang bercerita tentang masa lalu Vincent Valentine untuk mengungkap kemisteriusan kisah hidupnya. Game ini mengambil setting 3 tahun setelah FF VII. Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII- (DC -FF VII-) memiliki 2 lagu tema vokal berbahasa Jepang, satu adalah "Longing" dan satu lagi adalah "Redemption". Kedua lagu ini sama-sama dinyanyikan dan dikomposeri oleh Gackt. "Longing" mengalun saat Vincent berada di dalam Omega Weapon menuju tempat pertempuran terakhir sedangkan "Redemption" mengalun saat Staff Credits.
Sedikit bercerita mengenai keterlibatan Gackt dalam pembuatan dua lagu tema vokal miliknya di DC -FF VII-, jadi begini tim pengembang dan pencipta DC -FF VII- menginginkan lagu penutupan berupa lagu ballad; Gackt malah mengusulkan lagu penutupan berupa lagu rock & roll. Tim mengizinkan Gackt menjalankan idenya dan saat pertemuan internal perusahaan, lagu rock & roll ciptaan Gackt dipresentasikan dan dibarengi dengan cuplikan Ending + Staff Credits, tim merasa lagu yang ini lebih bagus dan merasa beruntung bukan lagu ballad keinginan mereka yang disetujui sehingga DC -FF VII- tidak menjadi game romantis termehek-mehek tragis seutuhnya .

Diceritakan di dalam game, "Eyes On Me" diciptakan dan dinyanyikan oleh Julia Heartilly. "Eyes On Me" menjadi lagu hits sepanjang masa di dunia FF VIII dan lagu ini merupakan curahan hati serta perasaan cinta Julia Heartilly kepada Laguna Loire. Masih di dalam game, "Eyes on Me" (Faye Wong) mengalun saat adegan romantis Squall dan Rinoa di pesawat Ragnarok. Versi orkestra Faye Wong mengalun saat Ending Cutscene FF VIII.
