Review [English ver.]: Final Fantasy XVI Paid DLC "Echoes of the Fallen"

PLOT

Clive, Joshua, and Jill Seeing The Sagespire Activates

The first major DLC of Final Fantasy XVI: Echoes of the Fallen has been available worldwide since December 7, 2023. Charon has informed Clive that she and fellow merchants in the market have seen strange crystals. They are called "Dusk Crystals" to distinguish them from clear blue crystals. Clive is concerned that these things come from hidden Mothercrystal that they didn't know existed. Clive beelines to Harpocrates, who theorizes that "Dusk Crystals"' brittleness is a sign that these are man-made. The possible makers are The Fallen instead of Ultima. Enough of this explanation from the Loreman, Clive fetches Joshua, Jill, and Torgal to accompany him in tracking down the specific merchants introducing "Dusk Crystals" to the market.

Famiel, The Merchant who Brings "Dusk Crytals" For Trade

Outside the Hideway, Clive and friends find the specific merchants at Port Isolde. The specific merchants prove highly abstruse. Finally, they are caught at Martha's Rest, and suddenly, an earthquake activates a nearby tower known as The Sagespire. Clive, Joshua, Jill, and Torgal eventually find the entrance to The Sagespire in The Dim and head inside to investigate this Fallen's legacy.

MY IMPRESSION

I finished FF XVI Echoes of the Fallen on December 11, 2023. The content was small, and the new characters didn't leave a lasting impression. This DLC was decent but, frankly, slightly disappointing.

A brighter note was that the fights were great. There were tough bosses in every corner of the Sagespire. Omega was a cherry on top; its fight enough made my head buzz.

I didn't notice the music that much. I was too focused on the lore and the challenge along the way. Considering the very short length and speed of release, this DLC feels like a waiting "table" for the second DLC. 8/10 is suitable for Echoes of the Fallen.
